Nesta Carsten's Books

Ernesta Carsten-Krüger was born and grew up in South Africa. In her early twenties, she attended a course for Waldorf education. It was like lightning struck when she first met the educational principles that flowed out of this pedagogy, and of course, Anthroposophy.

Now retired and living in Holland again, Nesta is still involved with and is a mentor for people with special needs, which means taking responsibility for legal and other aspects of their lives. And retirement has afforded her the time to help us translate the untranslated lectures of Rudolf Steiner.

The Liberation of the Human Being as the Basis for Social Reorganisation

by Rudolf Steiner
Old Thinking and New Social Will
Lectures On Social Life and the Threefold Social Organism
Translated by Nesta Carsten
Illustrations by Martha Liddle-Lameti

These lectures, held in Switzerland, were addressed to a mostly middle-class audience that had been spared from the First World War. Thus Rudolf Steiner presented the threefoldness here quite differently than in Germany and showed new perspectives of this topic.

Here are nine public lectures, held between March 11th and November 10th 1919 in Basel, Bern and Winterthur, Switzerland. They can be found in Steiner's Lectures On Social Life and the Threefold Social Organism. From Bibliography No. 329. Translated by Nesta Carsten.

This is a new (ad)venture for our initiatives, and comes with an additional financial burden. So, if you can, please help us — and the entire Anthroposophical community and all publishers of anthroposophical works — by purchasing one or more of these fine editions for your personal library. You can always research Steiner's works here and at other sites on the Internet, but you must agree, it is really nice to be able to curl up in your favorite chair to read and study the material at home!
